Upright meaning

Two figures raise their cups to each other, and something rises between them. The Two of Cups is mutual recognition: the meeting where both people lean in, the partnership with symmetry in it, the friendship that becomes an alliance of hearts. This card favors vows, collaborations with warmth, reconciliations, and first honest exchanges that change a relationship's temperature. The lion between the cups reminds you that passion serves the bond rather than ruling it. Meeting like this is rare enough to matter; tend it with attention and equality. Being seen and seeing back is the deepest magic. Drink to that.

Reversed meaning

Reversed, the toast goes flat. The exchange loses its symmetry: one heart leaning while the other backs away, giving tallied and resented, or a warm bond suddenly reading its own fine print. Small imbalances, unaddressed, are usually what strain the seal, so name the wobble gently before it becomes a rift. This position can also mark a connection in repair, distance, misunderstanding, the awkward week after a hard conversation. Return to what was mutually raised at the beginning and ask what it needs now. Chemistry started this; daily honesty will need to finish it.

Divinatory Meanings: Love, passion, friendship, affinity, union, concord, sympathy, the interrelation of the sexes, and—as a suggestion apart from all offices of divination—that desire which is not in Nature, but by which Nature is sanctified.
