Cast a Hexagram

Hold your question in mind, scribble a few strokes on the paper, and the hexagram is cast. The numbers come from your hand — the same strokes always give the same hexagram.

How the numbers come about

Coin Oracle — Coin Oracle: your stroke is sampled into three numbers; each number's low three bits are the three coins, and the instant your hand lifts is blended into those bits. The same stroke in another second casts different coins — the moment is part of the cast, exactly as the original app did it.

Meihua (Plum Blossom) — Meihua shares the Coin Oracle cast — same stroke, same moment, same three numbers — and adds the body-use panel: the trigram holding the movement is the Use, the quiet one is the Body; nuclear and transformed trigrams are weighed against the Body by the five elements.

Liuyao (Six Lines) — Liuyao: each of the six freehand strokes yields one number; mod 8 maps it to the four images at three-coin odds (old yin 1/8, young yang 3/8, young yin 3/8, old yang 1/8). The six lines then install the full Najia chart — palace, stems and branches, six relations, six animals from the day stem, self/other lines, hidden spirits and the transformed hexagram.
