"Six at the Beginning has sincerity" up to "going brings no blame."
The Sub-commentary states: As for "there is sincerity that does not endure to the end, then disordered, then gathering," Six at the Beginning has its correspondence in the fourth, yet the third supports it; in a time of Gathering Together, what is prized is joining with what is close.
Seeing the third supporting the fourth, it suspects the fourth favors the third; beginning with mutual trust in their central correspondence, it ends with mutual obstruction due to other intentions, hence it is said, "There is sincerity that does not endure to the end."
With the heart already harboring doubts, its sentiments become confused, rushing and running about, gathering without ritual propriety; hence it says, "Then disordered, then gathering."
"A handful" is an appearance of smallness: likening oneself to the measure of a handful speaks of being exceedingly small. "Laughing" does not indicate a stern and resolute demeanor, speaking of cowardice and inferiority.
Oneself is the proper mate, while the third has the favor of proximity.
If it calls out and likens itself to the smallness of a single handful, maintaining its posture of modest withdrawal and not contending with external things, then without worrying about the third, going will surely bring union and "no blame"; hence it says, "If it calls out, a handful will laugh; have no anxiety, going brings no blame."
