Upright meaning
A queen raises her sword with a face that has seen weather. The Queen of Swords is perception honed by experience: honesty without cruelty, boundaries without apology, the friend whose clarity costs something and is worth it. This card favors calling things by their name, contracts read, dynamics described accurately, decisions made on evidence. Her independence was learned, often the hard way; she knows what her yes is worth because she has spent it carefully. Cut what misleads, keep what is true. Be kind precisely where kindness means telling the truth.
Reversed meaning
Reversed, the sword points inward or freezes over. Clarity cools into cynicism, wit into edges looking for wrists, the hard-won boundary into a wall with no gate. This position names carried grief wearing armor, experience that curdled into expectation of the worst from everyone including you. It asks a small thaw: one conversation held without the verdict prepared in advance, one difference between then and now spoken aloud. Coldness has an honest root, self-protection, and an honest cost, the loneliness of the defended position. Perceptive people owe themselves the full picture, including the parts that softened once.
